In all, over 100 films from over 18 countries were screened at the 4 th KaraFilm Festival at the Pakistan Insitute of International Affairs Auditorium. They included 28 features, 33 documentaries and 42 short films. The KaraFilm Festival is the premiere international film festival in Pakistan and is the only internationally recognized film festival in the country. Selections from the Festival will go on tour to Lahore and Islamabad as well.

The 4 th KaraFilm Festival was organized by the KaraFilm Society and is extremely thankful for the sponsorship of PIA (Official Airline), Dawn Group of Newspapers (Official Print Media), Hum TV (Official Television Channel), DHL (Official Air Express Company), CINEPAX (Official Distributor), FM 89 (Official Radio), Getz Pharma, Fuji Film, Multitech and SMS Securities. It also expresses particular gratitude to the Friends of KaraFilm who have helped make the Festival possible with their individual donations and to the Pakistan Institute of International Affairs.

The 4th KaraFilm Festival also has the generous support of the British Council, the Goethe Institut, the Consulate General of Italy and the Embassy of the Czech Republic.

The Festival marked the World Premieres of at least two feature films (Pooja Bhatt produced "Rog" and Vinta Nanda directed "White Noise", at least two documentaries ("Crossing the Lines" on Kashmir, and "The Forgotten Song" on the decline of Lollywood) as well as many shorts. Many of the rest were screened in Asia or Pakistan for the first time and included several that have won awards at other festivals and have won or been nominated for Oscars and BAFTAs.

In addition, this year's Festival also saw a retrospective of Rakhshan Bani-Etemad, one of the most influential women directors in Iran , as well as a focus on contemporary Italian cinema with three recent Italian films. The Festival also featured a special section of shorts from the United Kingdom dealing with an increasingly multicultural British society.

A large number of foreign delegates and filmmakers attended the Festival this year including Mr. Om Puri, Mr Irrfan Khan, Mr Mahesh Bhatt, Ms Pooja Bhatt, Ms Rakhshan Bani-Etemad, Mr Rakesh Sharma, Ms Elahe Hiptoola (actor and producer), Ms Vinta Nanda (director), Mr Mohanjit Singh (producer), Mr Ankur Tewari (writer-director), Mr Shanab Alam (producer for Yashraj films), Ms. Priti Chandriani (director), Ms Rani Dey Burra (director), Mr Avanish Upmanyu (director), Ms Ghazala Avan (actor), Ms Alice Stilgoe (producer), Mr Irfan Ajeeb (festival organizer, Bite The Mango) and Ms Alina Mirza (festival organizer, Scotland). Among the Pakistani celebrities, the Festival saw the participation of Mr Zia Mohyuddin, Mr Shehzad Rafique, Ms Meera, Mr Satish Anand, Ms Samina Peerzada, Mr Moammar Rana, Mr Saud Qasmi, Ms Abida Parveen, Ms Tina Sani and a number of stars from television.

An art exhibit titled "Suspension of Disbelief" and featuring some of the leading artists of Pakistan accompanied the Festival at the Festival venue.
