SYNOPSIS
A man and a woman talk about their relationship in two interviews. They seem to be arguing, but actually they are just trying to understand each other.

THE FILMMAKER
Daniel Chamorro is a filmmaker, actor, writer, composer and teacher. His film “Infinitely” (1998) won 27 national awards along with some international ones. His 2004 film “24 Moments” won 17 prizes, while “Single for Chelo” (2005) has received 14 awards to date, including the Prize of the Jury in the 15th Festival of Cortometrajes of Madrid.

SYNOPSIS
The Urdu language is fast dying. So is Babba, an old Urdu poet. Having shut his eyes to the callous world that weighs art with money, he has woven a charming world of his own. Babba’s state of nonchalant bliss leads his daughter Minni into a world of bitter silence, while across the road is Pappan, a small time debt ridden publisher who is eying Babba’s treasured verses and his beautiful daughter. A self-indulgent, romantic old man, a stoic but essentially soft-hearted daughter and an opportunist, yet naive publisher, Babba, Minni and Pappan struggle to keep their culture alive.

THE FILMMAKER
Vibhu Puri was born and brought up in the walled city of Old Delhi. He grew up on a staple diet of Punjabi folk and traditional Sufi music. He studied film-making at India’s Film School F.T.I.I. in Pune. Films made by him while he was a student have won several national and international awards and have been screened at various prestigious film festivals including Karlovy Vary and Cannes. Currently Puri is working as Associate Director with Sanjay Lela Bhansali on “Saawariya.”

SYNOPSIS
Coffee & Allah is a film about Abeba Mohammed’s appetite for coffee, Islam and a good game of badminton. As a recent refugee in New Zealand with no English speaking skills and a veil to cloak her difference, she has little chance of connecting with others around her. That is until the day when a spontaneous game of badminton leads Abeba to accept a gift of friendship.

THE FILMMAKER
Born in Savaii, Samoa, Sima and her family immigrated to Aotearoa in 1974. In 1988, she attended Toi Whakaari (New Zealand Drama School). After graduating in 1989, she went on to perform in various theatre productions throughout New Zealand.
Sima was accepted into the Victorian College of the Art Film and Television School (Formerly Swinburne) in Melbourne, Australia. In 1993 she won the VCA Encouragement Student Award, and in 1994 she graduated with a bachelor of film and television, and immediately returned to Wellington where she wrote and directed her first short film.

SYNOPSIS
A young woman obsessed with her image takes a journey into the labyrinth of her own perception, turning her body into a prison for the world to see, and living the self-destructive dream of becoming what she is not.

THE FILMMAKER
Eduardo Chapero-Jackson was born in Madrid in 1971. He studied Fine Arts and Filmmaking in New York. In 1996, Chapero-Jackson returned to Spain as a freelance artist and began exhibiting his artwork. From 1997 to 2004 he worked at one of Spain’s leading production companies, Sogecine, while studying acting and directing. He left Sogecine in 2005 to continue his writing and directing career. “Contracuerpo” is his first 35mm short film.

SYNOPSIS
Kate and Joe question how they choose to document their lives. Would their lives be different if they chose to just live the moments rather than hide behind their documentation.

THE FILMMAKER
James Sharpe has been making films, writing, taking photos and doodling in one form or another for the majority of his life. His short films include the award winning “A Man Walks Into A Bar… “ and “Nose Hair.” He continues to develop film projects as a writer/director within the Midlands, including short films, music videos and feature film development. Sharpe also writes and illustrates a weekly comic strip called “The Exquisite Karma Bypass.”

SYNOPSIS
In a world where adults make wars and destroy things, a little girl is having a good dream.

THE FILMMAKER
Born in Iran, Shohreh Jandaghian started writing short stories through a writing correspondence course at the Institute for Children and Young Adult’s Cultural Development in Tehran in 1983. She later studied puppet theatre at the TV & Radio School for two years, and in 1989 she entered the cinema and theatre faculty at Tehran Art University to study camerawork. Since 1996 Jandaghian has lived in Europe, working as a filmmaker and a freelance journalist.

SYNOPSIS
Ed hates the disgusting eye of his father and so he makes up his mind to take the life of the old man to rid himself of the eye forever. The film is based on Edgar Allan Poe’s novel, “The Tell-tale Heart.”

THE FILMMAKER
Annette Jung was born in Germany in 1978, and graduated with a Diploma in Animation from the Academy of Film & Television (HFF), Potsdam, in 2005. Since then she has been working as freelance animator, illustrator and filmmaker.

SYNOPSIS
“Desmond” is a 3D computer animated film inspired by comics such as Calvin and Hobbs and animated films such as “The Incredibles” and “Family Guy.” The story revolves around a cartoony humanoid character called Desmond. Desmond lands on a strange planet in his spaceship. The spaceship is damaged while landing. Desmond attempts to fix his malfunctioning ship with some hilarious results.

Harry Green is doing his B.A. in computer visualization and animation at Bournemouth University.

THE FILMMAKER
Eric Ledune is a graduate of the Higher School of the Visual Arts of Mons. In his spare time he enjoys painting, illustrating and photography. Born in 1963 in Etterbeek, Belgium, Ledune is a co-founder of Tache d’Encre (Spot of Ink), a fanzine of comic strips.

David Pinillos has worked on several films and television productions as editor, including “Mesajes de Voz” which is being screened at this year’s KaraFilm Festival. “Dolly” marks his directorial debut.

SYNOPSIS
The film is set at a bus stop. It’s an ordinary evening. Two lonely people randomly meet and share their hopes and dreams.

THE FILMMAKER
Manuela Moreno started her career in Murcia, where she got her bachelor’s degree in performing arts at ESAD (Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático). After that, she moved to Madrid and took some courses at the E.C.A.M. (Escuela de Cinematografía Audiovisual de Madrid ) and she finished her studies at the NIC Institute (Instituto del Cine de Madrid).

Her debut as director was the short film Dolores released on May 2008. Now she is promoting her new masterpiece: Quiero estar el resto de mi vida contigo.

THE FILMMAKER
Frauke Thielecke was born in 1973 in Herne, Germany. She is enrolled at the Hamburg Media School and is pursuing a post graduate degree in film studies. She has directed many short films on Super 16 mm.

THE FILMMAKER
Born in 1982, in Tehran, Iran, Ali Moilagholipour entered cinema by assisting directors in Iranian movies. He started his career as a director with the short film “Negar’s Home.” “After Lunch We’ll Sit and Talk” was his second short film.

SYNOPSIS
Set in 1943 following the Spanish war. Ana walks slowly across the yellow, sun-burnt landscape. In her right hand she carries a red bundle. She walks to see her husband in jail.

THE FILMMAKER
“Ana’s way” is the fourth short film directed by Richard Vazquez. Previously he made “Change of View”, which was selected for the Tokyo Film Festival, the Fifth Malaga Spanish Film Festival and the Eleventh Biennial of Young Artists from Europe and the Mediterranean in Athens. Vazquez has also directed music videos for the bands Los Ronaldos, Mojo Project and Glamour to Kill. He studied cinema at the Sorbonne.
